Berlin Schonefeld is the smaller of Berlin’s two airports, the other one being Berlin Tegel. It is mostly used by budget operators such as Easyjet and German Wings who fly all over Europe. There are currency exchange desks and ATMs should you need some extra Euros. An observation deck will keep you busy, if you don’t feel like shopping. If you need to work, you can book into the Hugo Junkers Lounge or use the Wi-Fi service in the terminals. There are a number of shops at the airport including Heinemann Duty Free and Bon Voyage. You can buy souvenirs at Berlin Berlin or books and newspapers at Presse and Buch. If you get hungry, there are 9 places to eat including Cindy’s Diner and the Kilkenny Irish Pub. For something classy, try the Marche Bistro or for something light try the Movenpick Arabica Bar.
Berlin is the capital of Germany and is known for its history, nightlife and museums. You can take a tour of Die Mitte to really see everything the city has to offer. Highlights include the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall remains. You could also visit the world famous Berlin Zoo and then wander around the Tiergarten. If shopping is your thing, head for Ku’Damm or Fredrichstrasse. There are plenty of museums to keep you busy, try the Deutsches Historiches Museum and the Altes Museum or for art the Alte National Galerie. For great views all over the city, go up to the Berliner Dom (cathedral) or the observation deck at Berliner Fernseheturm. Out and about with car hire in Berlin, you can take a drive out to Mugglesee and swim or enjoy the beautiful lakes of Muritz. A visit to Potsdam is a must for the Sanssouci Park and Palace.
