Kahului airport is the biggest and only international airport in the Maui County of Hawaii in the United States of America. The Kahaului airport began its full commercial operations in June 1952 and is now the second busiest airports of Hawaii. The Kahului Airport gets most of its flights from the Honolulu International Airport. This air route, from Honolulu to Kahului, is considered as one of the busiest routes, with having almost 1,632,000 passengers in 2004.
The airport is medium sized and the major airlines that fly to the airport are American Airlines, Air Canada, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Pacific Wings, Maya Island Air and United Airlines. The IATA code for the airport is OGG, which pays tribute to the aviation pioneer, Bertram J. Hogg who worked for the Hawaiian Airlines. The airport is equipped with a car rental area and has car rental shuttles that are extremely efficient. Another way of travelling from the airport to your destination is through bus shuttles, which are a cheaper alternate and go to all major resorts.
The island of Maui is also known as the ‘The Magic Isle’ was formed as a result of volcanic eruptions that took place almost five thousand years ago. A hired car would help in traveling to the remote parts of the county and enable a person to enjoy the Aloha experience to its fullest.
